- This person participates in all aspects of student recruitment traveling throughout the year to represent Pomona College at school visits, college fairs, and other admission related programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage the planning and day-to-day operations of the fly-in programs in the fall for prospective students and in the spring for admitted students.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team to deploy timely and accurate communications for the fly-in programs.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean & Director of Recruitment in developing and implementing strategies to attract and enroll traditionally underrepresented students at the College.
- Performs recruiting and admission functions for a designated national territory:
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators within the Claremont Colleges Consortium.
- The Assistant Dean will manage multiple fly-in programs during the academic year with the assistance of another admission officer and administrative coordinator.

Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: A valid driver's license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in a liberal arts field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS: This successful candidate must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to perform the essential functions of the position or be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed. The incumbent must be able to:
- Deploy professional skills in recruiting, and advising students, families, and counselors, in collaboration with colleagues to best promote the College's strategic interests.
- a. Manage application details to help prospective and newly enrolling students.
- b. Build rapport with High School Counselors in assigned territories.
- Demonstrate effectiveness and clarity of verbal and written communication with excellent interpersonal communication. Must handle all activities and highly confidential information with patience, discretion, tact, and a keen eye for detail while working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- a. Must respond to e-mails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Operate computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook) and associated professional software (such as Slate and menu-driven databases). Demonstrate understanding of the use of technology to achieve annual goals and maintain confidentiality.
- Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the College in support of the College's strategic vision and the division's annual goals with a high standard of integrity and ethics.
Nice to have
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with high school students and counselors, or experience leading student programming, is required.
- The ability to speak a language other than English is preferred but not required.
- Experience at an academic institution is preferred.

- The incumbent must be able to:
- Must respond to e-mails and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Display exceptional organizational, time management and reading skills to complete work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
- Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required.
- Travel will be required at least four times a year to assigned territories.
- Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
- ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: This position is a regular, full-time, exempt position.
- Annual Salary for this position is between $74,000 - $78,000 with a competitive benefits package.
