About the role
- You will learn how AI and production business systems come together at a rapidly growing defense technology company.
- This internship will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to projects that provide value across Saronic.
Responsibilities
- Build copilots, automation, and internal tooling that increase software delivery efficiency across Enterprise Technology - accelerating how work is specified, built, tested, documented, and shipped
- Advance spec-driven development by helping the team write clear, structured specifications - intent, requirements, and acceptance criteria - that both engineers and AI agents build from to validate generated implementation
- Develop reusable agent skills and tools for improved capabilities and scalability across the organization
- Connect agents to enterprise tools, data, and actions through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to build and wire servers and connectors enabling AI to operate across business workflows
- Drive AI adoption and productivity across Saronic by identifying high-value use cases, prototyping agents and copilots that remove manual work, and helping teams put them into daily use
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Cognitive Science, or a related field
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid programming fundamentals, and comfort reading and writing code
- A genuine interest in agentic AI and some hands-on exposure to LLMs - prompting, tool and function calling, or building against an LLM API
- Working understanding of APIs (REST/JSON) and how software systems integrate
- Clear written communication and the ability to document your work
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- This role requires full-time in-office presence (40 hours/week) based at our headquarters in Austin, TX, from August through December
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
