About the role
- As a Senior Manager, Ontology, you will be a hands-on R&D BioPharm data curator responsible for harmonizing Research, Development, and Global Medical data into standardized, analysis-ready, FAIR-aligned datasets.
- Curate and harmonize biomedical datasets; ensure completeness, consistency, traceability, and audit readiness using ontology tools and tabular workflows.
- Define and execute QC/QA standards, SOPs, and governance practices; produce QC outputs and release documentation.
Responsibilities
- Map entities to controlled vocabularies/ontologies; manage terminology decisions, documentation, and versioning.
- Maintain application and domain ontologies across environments; follow data exchange processes and define contextual rules to support orchestration, discoverability and reuse.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements, including automation, and contribute to onboarding and best practices for the ontology tool suite.

Requirements
- Partner with data owners/stewards to collect required artifacts and build metadata using templates and tooling.
- What you bring to Takeda: Bachelor's degree with relevant experience or advanced degree (MS/PhD) in life sciences, bioinformatics, data science, or related field.
- Experience with ontology management tools (e.g., SciBite CENtree, TopBraid Composer, or equivalent).
- ability to track and merge ontology changes.

Compensation
- $137,000.00 - $215,270.00 The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position.
- The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
Benefits
- U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
