About the role
- This role uses a ticketing system to track and resolve issues while coordinating closely with key stakeholders.
- Test and verify new system changes and report findings, staying up to date with industry IT trends.
Responsibilities
- The primary role of the IT Systems Engineer is to manage core IT systems and support both operational and scientific teams.
- Manage and maintain IT systems, end-point devices (Windows, MacOS, iOS, etc.), servers, infrastructure, and associated hardware.
- Deploy and manage workstations and mobile device configuration and policy (company owned/BYOD).

- Experience - Functional knowledge and skills to perform efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering / infrastructure administration.
- Demonstrated strong experience with IT ticketing systems
- Ability to capture and understand workstation event logs and performance metrics.
- Knowledge and experience with DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and other network systems and protocols.
- Experience managing server rooms, including patch cabling, enterprise network appliances, and servers.
- Experience with Active Directory and Entra ID user and group management, Single Sign-On (SSO) and auto provisioning.
- Experience with automation tools and scripting.
Nice to have
- Required experience with MDM solutions (such as InTune).
- Experience with JAMF a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Google, etc.) preferred.

- Troubleshoot and resolve system and IT incidents for users in multiple locations/remote.
