About the role

- DLH is hiring a CANES SME ( Systems Analyst III) to join our team onsite at Naval Station Norfolk, supporting TACNET modernization through the development of training aligned to the latest CANES baseline.
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain CANES and C4I courseware, lesson plans, student guides, presentation materials, and practical lab exercises.
- Utilize Navy authoring tools such as CPM/LOM and AIM to develop and manage curriculum.
- Support pilot courses and fleet training events.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and incorporate feedback to maintain technical accuracy and instructional quality.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience supporting Navy TACNET, CANES, ISNS/COMPOSE, or other C4I systems
- Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting computerized systems, including experience with network protocols, system administration, or LAN environments
- Experience working with system configurations, upgrades, or baseline changes in an operational or sustainment environment
- Strong understanding of shipboard network architecture and operational practices
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation to real-world systems or training content
- Success requires strong shipboard network expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to translate real-world system administration experience into effective training.
Nice to have
- Recent hands-on experience with CANES or COMPOSE
- Background supporting fleet sustainment, Regional Maintenance Centers, or in-service engineering activities
- Familiarity with Navy training development processes or structured curriculum development
- Experience working with virtualization platforms (VMware), Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, or Cisco networking
- Prior experience mentoring or guiding personnel in technical environments
