About the role

  • This role completes underwriting trainings including online learning modules, corporate training, and peer training sessions.
  • Under supervision, you will evaluate basic accounts for risk selection, coverage offerings, and pricing purposes within limited authority.
  • This role also analyzes information to underwrite policies.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Insurance designations, such as AINS, AU, CIC or CPCU preferred
  • One year of experience in commercial lines underwriting or related experience

Skills

  • Knowledge of commercial insurance products and coverage options preferred
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others, as well as independently
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professional competence
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good negotiating skills preferred
  • Consults experienced underwriters to ask questions and gain understanding in underwriting best practices.
  • Under supervision, evaluates basic middle market accounts for risk selection and pricing purposes within limited authority.
  • Maintains proper file documentation in connection with accounts.
