About the role
- You will work cross‑functionally with various functional teams within the Tax Department, Controllership, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and regional finance teams.
- You will be a core collaborator who brings technical insight and foreign compliance and reporting experience into those discussions and helps operationalize planning decisions across global processes, systems, and teams.
- You will also champion process improvement, automation, and AI‑assisted workflows, encouraging your team to leverage technology to improve quality, efficiency, and insight, while maintaining robust controls and review standards.
Responsibilities
- You will own critical elements of Workday's U.S. international tax profile and foreign tax reporting, with a strong focus on operational excellence, people leadership, and scalable processes.
- Own and manage end‑to‑end U.S. international tax compliance, including technical analysis, coordination with external advisors, and serving as a key in‑house subject matter expert on U.S. international tax.
- Lead and develop overseas teams responsible for foreign corporate income tax compliance and related filings across multiple jurisdictions, driving timely, accurate submissions and clear communication and documentation of risks and issues.
- Support external auditors on international and foreign tax aspects, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation of key judgments and controls.
- Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in U.S. international tax for multinational companies, including public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and/or in‑house corporate tax roles.
- Hands‑on experience with ASC 740 for income taxes, including international and foreign components of the tax provision.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work with complex data and connect technical tax conclusions to business and financial impacts.
- Curiosity and openness to new ways of working, including AI‑assisted workflows and automation, with a track record of driving or contributing to process improvements.
- We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).
- Deep technical understanding of U.S. international tax rules (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, foreign tax credits, anti‑hybrid rules) and strong familiarity with foreign compliance, local statutory reporting requirements, and global tax developments (e.g., Pillar Two/global minimum tax).
- Experience with tax provision and compliance technology (e.g., ONESOURCE) and comfort working with ERP and data tools; Workday experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross‑functional partners, and to explain complex tax concepts in clear, business‑focused language.
- Passion for tax transformation, including process enhancement, automation, and embracing AI‑enabled skills.
