About the role
- Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence.
- The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI.
- Azure Monitor includes Log Analytics, Application Insights, Container Insights, Hosted Prometheus, Azure Managed Grafana, and more.
Responsibilities
- As a member of our team, you will lead design and code reviews across feature areas and participate in all stages of our engineering lifecycle (initial research and discovery, quick iteration on promising concepts, solution prototyping and development, deployment and live site support).
- You will work with multiple partner teams and deploy across all Azure regions.
- Enjoys the challenge of designing, building and operating cloud infrastructure platform components built on Kubernetes, with a strong focus on reliability, security, networking, diagnosability, and global-scale cost efficiency.
- Drive well-scoped design and implementation work for cloud-native infrastructure used by Azure Observability services across multiple environments.
- Own production-quality features end to end, including design, coding, validation, deployment, monitoring, and live-site support.
- Partner with adjacent infrastructure, observability, and platform teams to align dependencies, clarify ownership, and deliver supportable solutions.
- We build on each other's ideas and empower engineers to innovate from the ground up, delivering world-class value at speed.
Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native infrastructure, distributed systems, or large-scale production services.
- Experience improving reliability, security, observability, networking, or operational excellence for live services.
- Experience with C#, Java, C++, Go, Python, or similar programming languages.

Skills
- Planetary-scale, Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure platforms for Azure Monitor workloads.

Compensation
- Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year.
