About the role
- The UWM Student Union encompasses five floors and 330,000 square feet, which includes ten dining units, two conference centers, several retail spaces, a recreation center, and an art gallery.
- Services are also provided for tenants and other departments housed within the facility.
- This position primarily works 1st shift (7:30PM - 4 PM) Monday through Friday, with flexible or extended hours as determined by department needs.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
- Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
- Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
- Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
Requirements
- Previous work experience in a facilities maintenance setting or evidence of basic maintenance knowledge.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs unassisted.

Nice to have
- Two or more years of facilities maintenance experience.
- A degree or technical certification in a specific trade.
- Previous experience or abilities demonstrated in the following areas:
- Small engine repair
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, etc.
Compensation
- $29-$31 per hour
