- In this role, you will provide professional engineering expertise, direct field inspection activities, problem solve, and facilitate communication among contractors, consultants, project managers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Though Maricopa County is in a desert, floods occur during two distinct rainy seasons - the summer monsoon and winter frontal rains.
Responsibilities
- This position ensures that all construction activities comply with contract documents, engineering standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements, while delivering the project on time and cost-effectively.
- The Resident Engineer promotes safety, maintains project quality, and protects public resources through diligent oversight, accurate documentation, and proactive problem-solving.

- Protective Equipment Required
- Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive

- Two years of professional experience as a Resident Engineer with direct work experience in CE&I (Construction, Engineering, and Inspection)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Environmental, etc.)
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, or by the technical board of another state, with the ability to obtain Arizona registration within six months of employment
- Other Requirements
- Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.

- Skilled in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others
- Horizontal construction experience in public works projects, emphasizing flood control-type projects, including dam safety-related construction experience
- Construction experience on roadway and transportation projects
