About the role

  • The Senior Estimator position prepares detailed cost estimates for proposed new construction projects involving both competitive bid and negotiated type work.
  • Using an approved list of contractors, invites subcontractors to submit pricing.
  • Assists in exploring a multitude of architectural alternatives; then pricing the alternatives that offer the greatest opportunity for cost savings.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the estimating team to prepare detailed quantity take-offs for assigned segments of the project and apply unit costs.
  • Create bid packages that are complete in scope and easy to follow.
  • Reviews construction documents for both negotiated and bid projects; determine both the nature and scope of the work to be performed.
  • Collaborates and leads a wide variety of professionals including architects, owner representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and Webcor employees.
  • Actively participates in all design meetings with owners and architects during development of the design.
  • Involves the subject matter experts within the organization to provide feedback directly to owners and architects during the design process to enhance the cost, schedule, quality, and constructability of a project.
  • Develops conceptual estimates at a strategic level.
  • Creates strong relationships with the local subcontractor market.

Requirements

  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit for long periods of time at a desk, generally up to 7 hours per day and occasionally standing and walking.
  • Regularly required to use hands to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine).
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and lift up to 15 pounds.
  • This is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Leads, develop, motivates and more junior team members as required.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of construction costs and principles
  • Advanced knowledge of the following software: WinEst, OST, Revit, Excel, BuildingConnected
  • Advanced knowledge of construction drawings, costs and principals.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of costs to prepare conceptual estimates.
  • General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
  • Ability to lead constructability reviews.
  • Design-Build project and Estimating experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of various insurance, bonds, contingencies, and mark-ups.
  • Capable of utilizing risk management Tools (Risk Register, etc.) during project pursuits and preconstruction services.
  • Proficient in strategic communication, skilled in delivering impactful messages and ideas to diverse audiences of varying sizes.
  • Demonstrates strategic level customer focus while seamlessly collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic decision quality and use of sound judgement.

Compensation

  • The range of base pay is $170,000 - $195,000.
