- Introduction and Scope of Work Canada has currently protected 17.5% of its ocean estate and has committed to protect 30% by 2030.
- At present, there is limited information available on exactly what fishing activities are occurring in Canada's marine protected areas, at what scale, and with what impacts.
Requirements
- Provide recommendations on processes and methods to answer questions and, where possible, identify technical or subject matter expertise required to undertake this work
- Rates for professional fees must be stated.
- At least 7 years professional or academic experience (working or equivalent) in on fisheries management, preferably in the Canadian context.
- Expertise in managing and interpreting spatial data sets.
- Proposals should demonstrate working knowledge of fisheries management especially on the East and West Coasts, knowledge of marine protected area data sources, and anticipated challenges regarding data availability.
- All the vendors participating in the RFP process will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
- Pricing must be provided in CAD.
- Deep understanding of marine conservation, spatial planning, and marine protected areas in Canada.
- Proposal Submission Requirements *Please note that this is NOT a staff position but a short-term contract for a consultant or consulting team* Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a strict deadline of August 7th, 2026. Proponents should include a resume and cover letter outlining relevant qualifications, skills, and experience as well their hourly or daily rate. This contract is short term and focused on project discovery. Proposals should demonstrate working knowledge of fisheries management especially on the East and West Coasts, knowledge of marine protected area data sources, and anticipated challenges regarding data availability. - CPAWS reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
- CPAWS is not obligated to accept the lowest-priced proposal.
- CPAWS may negotiate the scope, timelines, and pricing with the preferred vendor.
- All costs associated with the preparation and submission of proposals are the responsibility of the vendor.
