About the role

  • This role goes beyond traditional project management.
  • As the technical authority and Engineer of Record, you will ensure that all assessments align with ASTM standards while delivering clear, decision-focused insights for lenders, investors, and property owners.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead Vertex's BCA/PCA service line, including methodology, standards, and delivery model
  • Build, train, and mentor a team of technologists, inspectors, and field staff, leveraging Vertex's broader technical team as needed
  • Develop standardized inspection protocols, checklists, and guidance tools
  • Implement a scalable model where field staff collect data and senior technical review ensures quality and consistency
  • Manage risk by ensuring clear communication of scope, limitations, and uncertainty

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Building Science Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in building sciences, with significant BCA/PCA and capital planning experience
  • Strong understanding of building systems and lifecycle performance
  • Proven experience training, mentoring, and overseeing field-based assessment teams
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to produce clear, defensible, client-ready reports

  • Multi-provincial licensing is an asset
