About the role

  • NBCUniversal is seeking a highly strategic, creative, and collaborative Senior Vice President, Unscripted Content to lead the full lifecycle of unscripted programming across NBC, from development through production and post-production.
  • This executive will help shape NBC's programming strategy, oversee a robust slate of high-profile series, and play a critical role in identifying and developing the next generation of hit franchises.
  • The SVP will drive creative and operational excellence across the portfolio while cultivating strong relationships with production companies, talent, showrunners, and key internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development pipeline, including pitches, presentations, pilots, proof-of-concepts, step deals, first-season orders, and long-range franchise planning.
  • Identify emerging trends, talent, production partners, and creative opportunities that support NBC's programming strategy and long-term growth objectives.
  • Serve as NBC's senior liaison for assigned productions, building and maintaining relationships with production companies, executive producers, talent, representatives, and key creative partners.
  • Provide strategic and creative feedback across all phases of development and production, including format development, casting, storytelling, editorial direction, visual design, music, and overall execution.
  • Champion innovative ideas and drive the evolution of existing franchises while helping to build new scalable formats and brands.
  • Partner with talent, executive producers, and production teams to navigate creative, operational, and business challenges.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Research, Programming, and Ad Sales to maximize audience engagement, franchise value, and business results.
  • Manage the flow of information, approvals, materials, and communications across departments and external partners.
  • Represent NBC and NBCUniversal within the industry to strengthen relationships and create future development and production opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience managing production budgets, schedules, and operational planning to ensure efficient execution and delivery.
  • Experience collaborating effectively across Marketing, Digital, Communications, Research, Programming, Ad Sales, and other business functions.
  • As part of our selection process, external candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview with an NBCUniversal employee at one of our locations prior to a hiring decision.

  • Expert knowledge of contemporary television production, post-production, digital content, and emerging audience platforms.
  • Strong relationships across the entertainment industry, including independent producers, executive producers, showrunners, agents, managers, and talent representatives.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to balance creative priorities, audience expectations, and commercial objectives.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Compensation

  • $350,000 - $425,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
