About the role
- Responsible and accountable for the coordination of the daily operational and clinical activities performed by the central supply/sterile processing staff, surgical team assistants, and the surgical technologists.
- Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
- include but are not limited to working closely with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure seamless flow within the department.
Responsibilities
- Interprets, supports, and practices the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
- Promotes efficient surgical workflows, instrument readiness, staff development, and standardization efforts to support safe high-quality patient care throughout the Surgery Center.
- Collaborates with the Sterile Processing Lead to evaluate surgical instrumentation, equipment, vendor products, and service agreements.
- Leads team in printing surgery schedules, pick sheets and picking cases.
- Updates and maintains physician preference cards on surgery information system.
- Performs all of the duties of Surgical Technologists.
- Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance and ensures staff adherence to the same.
- Maintains knowledge of current clinical trends and developments as it relates to job scope.
- Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Compensation
- Required to complete 4 hours of annual training per year for advanced orthopedic and spine certification requirements.

- Provides back-up coverage and relief scheduling for the Surgical Technologists.
- Prevents, minimizes and/or corrects risks to patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
- Acts as a resource for physicians, other health care providers, patients and families.
- Identifies needs and sets goals for own professional growth and development, meets all mandatory system/departmental educational requirements.
- Support orientation/education/implementation of specialty leads.
- Supports and models behaviors consistent with Billings Clinic's mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations.
