About the role

  • Responsible and accountable for the coordination of the daily operational and clinical activities performed by the central supply/sterile processing staff, surgical team assistants, and the surgical technologists.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
  • include but are not limited to working closely with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure seamless flow within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets, supports, and practices the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
  • Promotes efficient surgical workflows, instrument readiness, staff development, and standardization efforts to support safe high-quality patient care throughout the Surgery Center.
  • Collaborates with the Sterile Processing Lead to evaluate surgical instrumentation, equipment, vendor products, and service agreements.
  • Leads team in printing surgery schedules, pick sheets and picking cases.
  • Updates and maintains physician preference cards on surgery information system.
  • Performs all of the duties of Surgical Technologists.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance and ensures staff adherence to the same.
  • Maintains knowledge of current clinical trends and developments as it relates to job scope.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Compensation

  • Required to complete 4 hours of annual training per year for advanced orthopedic and spine certification requirements.

  • Identifies needs and sets goals for own professional growth and development, meets all mandatory system/departmental educational requirements.
  • Support orientation/education/implementation of specialty leads.
