About the role
- As an Occupational Therapist in our Rehab Services department, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered care to help individuals regain or enhance their ability to perform meaningful daily activities.
- In this salaried, full-time role, you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions that support patients' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
- You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, physical and speech therapists, social workers, and family members to promote optimal outcomes, safe discharge planning, and long-term functional independence.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals based on clinical findings, best practices, and patient-centered objectives.
- Train and educate patients, families, and caregivers on home programs, safety techniques, adaptive strategies, and use of equipment to support carryover and independence outside of the clinical setting.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary rehab team to coordinate care, participate in care conferences, and contribute to discharge planning and recommendations for ongoing services or support.
- Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in accordance with departmental policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Supervise, mentor, or provide guidance to occupational therapy assistants, students, and support staff as assigned.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited occupational therapy program.
- Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT), or eligibility to obtain certification as required.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evidence-based interventions, and applicable professional standards of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within organizational timeframe, as required by the facility.
