About the role

  • Provides outstanding primary care nursing services for marginalized clients, who may have severe and persistent mental illness, across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

  • Performs venepuncture and wound care on a daily basis

Requirements

  • Intermediate proficiency in oral and written French an asset

Skills

  • Membership in the Ontario College of Nurses' Association and the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario
  • Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Internal agency and other related legislation in Ontario
  • Sound knowledge of psychotropic medications including usage and potential side effects
  • Ability to acquire and utilize community resources effectively to meet client's needs
  • Ability to resolve complex client problems in order to ensure a high standard of nursing service
  • Excellent assessment and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to change
  • Ability to work independently when necessary
  • Ability to think critically and creatively
  • Valid Ontario Driver's license, access to a dependable vehicle in safe working order and appropriate insurance coverage
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook), internet
  • Up to date CPR and First Aid
