About the role
- Specialist, Category Management plays a pivotal role in optimizing product categories to achieve business growth and profitability targets for McKesson Canada.
- This position involves strategic planning, vendor relationship management, and data-driven decision-making to enhance product offerings and market competitiveness.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports on category performance, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives and market trends.
- Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations, contract management, performance reviews, and fostering collaborative partnerships.
- Analyze sales data, inventory levels, and profitability metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, sales, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans.
- Develop and manage promotional activities, pricing strategies, and product launches to maximize sales and market share.
- Identify and implement process improvements within category management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful category strategies that drive significant business results.
- Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and consumer insights to identify new opportunities and optimize existing product assortments.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and category management software/tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Master's degree preferred.
