About the role

Summary: Are you a passionate veterinary student looking to make a meaningful impact on animal welfare?
This role will connect you with peers, mentors, and professionals working in animal welfare while allowing you to champion the ASPCA's initiatives.
To succeed in this role, the Representative will enjoy making connections with fellow students and sharing information about the ASPCA.

Build and nurture relationships with fellow veterinary medicine students and student groups on campus
Act as a point of contact and liaison to provide information regarding upcoming campus events and other opportunities the ASPCA® could collaborate with to the ASPCA® Director, Campus Relations
Develop written communications about the ASPCA and upcoming events for students
Gain Valuable Experience by developing leadership, communication, networking, and advocacy skills that will enhance your career in veterinary medicine

Ability to dedicate an average of 3 hours a week during the semester to fulfilling the responsibilities of an ASPCA® Student Representative
Ability to work independently (self-starter)
Ability to temporarily store informational and promotional items to be passed out on campus to CVM peers
English (required)
The Veterinary Student Representative must be comfortable working autonomously, while also knowing when and how to seek input and guidance from the team.
High School Diploma (Required)
In good academic standing
Strong belief in the Mission and Core Values of the ASPCA®
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships with peers
Active membership in at least one student group related to the core work of the ASPCA® (e.g., shelter medicine, animal welfare, DEI-focused group, forensics, etc.)
Not currently a student Representative for another veterinary or animal welfare organization, non-profit, or company
High level of maturity and professionalism
Access to a computer for virtual meetings and email correspondence

$20 per hour (potential to earn up to $1,000 per semester based on your commitment)
SAVMA Reimbursement: Attend the annual SAVMA Symposium and receive up to $1,000 reimbursement for travel, lodging, and food costs

Maintain academic excellence and a focus on your education
Flexible Schedule with an average of 3 hours per week (~48 hours per semester)
Access Resources such as, ASPCA® educational materials, webinars, possibility to tour and meet with our medical staff at the ASPCA® Cruelty Recovery Center, and professional networking opportunities in animal welfare
