About the role
- The successful candidate will work closely with the R&D team and be accountable for carrying out project activities according to established protocols and departmental needs.
- Additionally, you will be eligible for company observed paid Holidays and Paid Time Off (PTO) at a rate of 14 days per year, prorated based on your hire date.
Responsibilities
- Support special breeding program projects and research initiatives as assigned.
- Record, organize, and maintain accurate project data and records.
- Aviagen Turkeys Inc. is looking for a Research & Development Project Technician to support our poultry breeding program through the implementation and execution of research projects and data collection activities.
- This position is responsible for collecting accurate and timely data that supports breeding decisions and genetic improvement efforts.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in poultry facilities for extended periods.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to dust, feathers, noise, and varying temperatures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to develop a practical understanding of pedigree breeding programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection.
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Nice to have
- Experience in an agriculture-related field is preferred but not required.
