About the role

  • Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process.
  • Obtains necessary data concerning patient's medical diagnosis and history and prepares patient case history.
  • Administers standard ophthalmic tests per physician's order and according to established procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inventories and orders supplies within the clinic; collaborates with the manager to maintain expenses within the approved budget.
  • Sets own professional goals in collaboration with the manager, to improve performance and maintain clinical competence.
  • Performs retinoscopy.

Requirements

  • American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
  • Prepares reports and completes charting as required and confers regularly with the physician relative to patient's progress.
  • Knowledge of basic eye anatomy and physiology as well as Ophthalmic tests and procedures as would be acquired through completion of a two-year ophthalmic technician program or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to represent the organization and serve consumers in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization and its services.
