About the role
- The Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering Portfolio at Leidos is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join our dynamic team in the development of cutting-edge EO/IR sensor systems.
- The Test Engineer will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and a passion for innovative technology along with interest or exposure to development or integration of electro-optical technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test mechanical components and assemblies for EO/IR sensor system applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical hardware with optical and electronic solutions.
- Document design processes, test results, and technical specifications for project records.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 0+ years of experience in mechanical system design, development, and testing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CREO, AutoCAD) and FEA tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components and systems, including optomechanical assemblies, thermal management, and structural design.
- Must be a resident or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Nice to have
- Experience with optomechanical design and precision alignment techniques.
- Experience with thermal analysis and vibration testing.
- Knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis.
- Familiarity with military standards and regulations related to defense systems (e.g., MIL-STD-810 for environmental testing).
- Familiarity with Ubuntu or other Linux-based operating systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
