About the role

Demonstrate competency in reading grade stakes, basic plans, or work instructions related to equipment operation.
Operate equipment in close proximity to personnel, utilities, structures, and active operations while maintaining situational awareness.
Follow direction from the Project Foreman and other senior personnel, while demonstrating initiative, accountability, and consistent productivity on the jobsite.

Work collaboratively with multiple construction trades to support efficient and safe project execution.
Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance in accordance with project schedules.
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of heavy construction equipment in support of civil construction projects throughout Alaska.
Maintain a constant state of alertness and perform all duties in a safe manner, following company safety policies and procedures.

Ability to pass a drug, driving and background screenings.

Knowledge of the safe and proper operation of heavy construction equipment and related safety practices.
Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, terminology, and standard practices used in the construction industry.
Knowledge of basic preventative maintenance principles for heavy equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and fluid checks.
Knowledge of jobsite safety requirements, including hazard recognition, PPE use, and safe work practices in extreme weather conditions.
Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment controls relevant to construction and equipment operations.
Skill in organizing work tasks, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing time effectively.
Skill in operating multiple types of heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, haul trucks, graders, and skid-steers.
Skill in performing accurate equipment inspections and completing required logs, reports, and documentation.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, spotters, and crew members on active jobsites.
Ability to remain productive and focused while working under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining productive, accountable, and safety focused.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
