Overview The Writer/Editor produces high-quality editorial content that highlights the research, clinical, and education activities of Yale School of Medicine (YSM).
This role contributes both academic and patient-facing storytelling.

The position supports digital growth and institutional visibility by producing content that is accurate, audience-centered, AI-informed, and optimized for discoverability across evolving digital environments.
The role proactively identifies high-impact story opportunities through relationship-building, careful listening, and ongoing engagement with faculty, departments, and institutional partners.
The role collaborates with editorial, multimedia, and digital colleagues during story ideation and development to support integrated storytelling across written, visual, and video formats.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with a proven ability to conduct interviews and build productive relationships with faculty, clinicians, institutional leaders, and communications colleagues.
Develops and executes public relations strategy, output, and performance for the department with the goal of increasing media impressions in local, national, industry-specific and alumni media.
Creates communications strategy to showcase top technologies available for license.

A background covering health, science, academic medicine, higher education, or related institutional communications is strongly preferred.
