About the role
- The Special Projects Group of KPFF is growing and looking for an ambitious and initiative-driven Structural Engineer to strengthen our dynamic team in Tacoma, WA.
- You will be on Ruston Way, with a view of Commencement Bay, in Tacoma, WA working on a diverse range of waterfront and industrial infrastructure projects.
- Enhance your skills in identifying and overcoming challenges through innovative problem-solving approaches, utilizing both traditional and modern engineering techniques.
Responsibilities
- Structural Design and Development:
- Apply your engineering expertise to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to devise innovative solutions drawing on best practices in areas such as pile design, bulkhead wall, prestressed concrete, and seismic design for Port developments, marine engineering, ferry and cruise terminals, shipyards, fish & wildlife facilities, marinas, and floating structures.
- Contribute to projects involving waterfront infrastructure and industrial developments, leveraging your skills to drive successful outcomes in these specialized areas.
- Learn to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies to contribute to project success.
- Mentor team members to support their professional growth and development.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert guidance and proactive support throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

- We specialize in the management and design of heavy civil, structural, industrial, and waterfront infrastructure projects across the United States.
Requirements
- With over 60 years of experience, we provide creative solutions for diverse projects, scales, and industries.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis)
- Knowledge of ASCE 61-14, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, and NDS
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
Nice to have
- MS in Civil Engineering preferred (with a structural Emphasis)
- Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, MS Excel, and VBA is preferred.

- Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation
- The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills.
- The expected range for a qualified candidate with 10+ years of experience is $125,000-$155,000.
