About the role

The School Nurse will address the basic medical issues that occur with the assigned student population.
S/he will provide scheduled care and treatment to the assigned student population.

Requirements

Ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly
Comfortable knowledge of universal procedures and ability to teach this to others
willingness to travel within the state, as required
.· Prepare and maintain student clinic records and prepare required reports.
2+ years of professional work experience with background in education and urban communities preferred
Ability to use clinic/medical equipmentPossess basic pharmacological knowledge
Good oral and written communication skills
Willing attitude to be a part of the school team;
Strong sense of professionalism;

Nice to have

Associates Preferred LPN Certification Required

Skills

and requirements expected by the nursing coordinator and the school administrators
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Willingness to work additional hours and/or evenings, on occasion
Making referrals to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up
Serving as a liaison between school, family, and community resources
Experience with special needs students
Experience with Crisis Management
Experience with social and community organization coordination of benefits

Benefits

Ensure compliance with procedures, protocols, and other instructions provided by the coordinator of health services or contained in division manuals and protocols.
Implement and record required screening programs; notify parents when further medical evaluation is indicated.
Establish and update health and immunization records
Develop Individual Health Care Plans and 504 Plans for students to be reviewed by Director of Student Support.
