About the role
- The department employs over 300 exempt, non-exempt, and student staff.
- Will require extended hours due to weather emergencies, delayed openings and early closings, and system changeovers.
Responsibilities
- The Facilities Projects Manager position plans, coordinates, tracks, closes out, and manages all assigned projects and manages the work of the University of Maryland on-call contractors and outside contractors.
- The incumbent will develop solutions for and complete projects without completed design specifications or drawings.
- Incumbent will lead snow removal activities, which may require working outside in cold weather for extended periods of time, which may occur outside of regular working hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- This position is an essential employee related to catastrophic, weather, or other emergencies and may be required to come to campus when the University is closed.
- Incumbent will be required to work from ladders, lifts, or scaffolding
- Incumbent will be required to work in hazardous or irritating environments and adverse weather or temperature conditions.
- Incumbent will be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
- the incumbent will be required to inspect work, involving bending, stooping, walking, and climbing.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a facility of comparable size/scope is preferred.
- A driver's license with fewer than 6 points is required.

Skills
- Knowledge of facilities management.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to utilize estimating software.
