About the role

  • While total patient care is the main objective, this position focuses on the testing component of patient care.
  • Other equipment may be used as needed. - Telephone, computer, fax, printer and copier.

Responsibilities

  • Perform biometry testing and evaluate results
  • Perform and evaluate keratometry
  • Perform and evaluate A-scans; contact and immersion
  • Perform auto refraction and auto keratometry
  • Perform corneal topography
  • Perform pachymetry
  • Perform ECC photography
  • Perform post-refractive surgery patient work up
  • This position is responsible for daily communication with patients, fellow technicians, and physicians. May provide training assistance or may perform general technician duties.

Requirements

  • Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.

Nice to have

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Previous specialized testing experience preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred.
  • Regularly uses Ophthalmic equipment/devices per sub-specialty requirement such as keratometer
  • visual acuity measuring/B-VAT
  • specular microscopy unit

Compensation

  • $25k-$50k

  • General Medical: Includes understanding of CPR, basic anatomy and physiology, systemic disease, ocular disease and ocular emergencies.
