Responsibilities
- Personal Care Assistant (PCA) and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) focus on student support for daily school activities and academic engagement.
- The core differences between PCA and RBT is that an RBT is involved in specialized training in Applied Behavior Analysis, with passing a certification exam, to deliver services to students with higher intensity behavioral or instructional needs.
- A PCA is a level 2 paraprofessional generally providing one-on-one support to help a student navigate their school day.
- Assists with daily activities, behavioral support, academic engagement, general classroom participation, collecting data, and provide daily progress notes.
