About the role
- The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a key role in supporting civil construction projects by operating a variety of heavy machinery, such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and dozers.
- Fuel, grease, and conduct regular routine maintenance on equipment
Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of crew members and equipment on job sites
- Operators are expected to perform routine inspections and maintenance, interpret site plans and grades, and work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete excavation and site work accurately and on schedule.
- Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and working order
Requirements
- This role requires a strong safety mindset, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to adapt to changing job site conditions.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator must be dependable, physically fit, and capable of working outdoors in all weather.
- Success in this position relies on effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently when required.
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers and other machinery as required
- Other duties will be assigned as required
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, such as excavators, loaders, dozers and skid steers
- Prior experience in the excavating and civil construction industry is required
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, locates, and set/check grades
