About the role

Coupang's legal team plays a critical role in driving our phenomenal growth by managing legal risks and enabling innovation.
You will also function as an ambassador, championing Coupang's leadership principles and corporate culture.
This position can be based in Mountain View, CA or Seattle,WA.

Drive company-wide AI reviews by conducting rigorous assessments of technical details and balancing engineering requirements with legal frameworks to solve complex problems.
Partner closely with engineering, product management, security, and privacy teams to integrate legal requirements into the product development lifecycle.
Collaborate cross-functionally to build scalable processes for AI governance and product compliance.

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and 7+ years of total legal experience, including a combination of major law firm and in-house experience
Prior experience in product counseling or AI governance
Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
Ability to solve problems through creative thinking and partnerships with other teams

Deep understanding of privacy, data governance, and AI
Relevant IAPP certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, AIGP) are preferred and will be considered an asset.
Expertise in the EU AI Act and e-commerce industries
