- This is an exciting opportunity to shape critical qualification programs while contributing to the scaling of breakthrough battery technology.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the mechanical qualification test strategy across Form Energy's battery systems, modules, and structural assemblies, including shock, vibration, seismic, structural load, thermal cycling, and environmental testing, selecting and justifying applicable standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, IEC, UL, ASTM, etc.).
- Design complex test programs and specify custom fixtures for large-format, high-mass test articles.
- Lead root-cause investigations on test failures, partnering with design, structural, and reliability engineering to drive corrective action and design improvements.
- Represent Form Energy in interactions with third-party test labs, certification bodies, and qualification agencies, while developing and improving internal test procedures, work instructions, and lab safety practices.
- Own capital equipment planning for the mechanical test lab, mentor level I/II Test Engineers and technicians, and present test results and qualification status to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance considerations for large-scale mechanical and electromechanical test environments, with excellent problem-solving skills to balance speed, rigor, and safety.
Nice to have
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical test engineering, with a track record of owning qualification programs from planning through certification (battery or energy systems experience is a plus)
