About the role

  • The LPN promotes the provision of resident care, promotes a team approach with the Resident Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and other team members in Activities, Housekeeping and Dining Services.
  • The LPN provides direct care as well as directs and oversees care provided by the caregivers to ensure the Resident's Plan of Care is followed.
  • An active approach to resident care will be taken and not just passive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing appropriate information and behavioral prompts, cues, redirection, and affirming support to residents in need.
  • Support hydration programs and good dining experience and dietary intake.
  • Maintain restraint-free environment at all times.
  • Support fall prevention programs for all Residents in need.
  • Perform restorative nursing techniques including proper positioning, ADL training, and Passive Range of Motion.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Language Ability: Possess the ability to deal tactfully with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Other duties may be required and assigned.

Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Cognitive Demands: Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Possess the leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professionals.
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile people within the community.
