About the role

  • The Accounting Manager(M3)- Construction and Development leads the accounting team in their responsibilities for a group of projects under construction and acquired/developing projects for which Leeward Energy has asset management responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Own balance sheet integrity for construction and development entities, including cash, construction-in-progress and property, plant and equipment, lease right-of-use assets and liabilities, intercompany accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other key accounts
  • Partner closely with project execution and procurement teams to support purchase order processes, construction cost tracking and timely invoice processing.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls and documentation in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Own balance sheet integrity for construction and development entities, including cash, construction-in-progress and property, plant and equipment, lease right-of-use assets and liabilities, intercompany accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other key accounts; ensure timely preparation and resolution of account reconciliations.
  • Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of two years people management experience.
  • Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Applicants must have current authorization to work for any employer in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for an employment visa now or in the future.
  • Special projects and other duties as required.
  • Strong technical and analytical accounting skills with exposure to complex accounting topics such as consolidations, multiple-entity structures, common control transactions, equity and investment accounting, lease accounting, construction accounting, establishing and documenting accounting policies in accordance with GAAP.
  • preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities and deadlines with professional follow-through. Demonstrated ability to manage monthly close process and produce high-quality analysis and reconciliations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop team members, prioritize work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, hands-on approach with a high level of ownership, accountability and professional judgement.
  • Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus. Advanced excel skills required.
  • Please Note: This is an in-office role, requiring on site presence in our office a minimum of three days per week with hybrid flexibility of working remotely two days per week, subject to manager and policy approval. #LIHybrid
  • Physical Demands:
  • Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
  • Hybrid schedule, in-office 3 days per week required.

Nice to have

  • Bachelors of Accounting or equivalent, CPA preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics experience a plus.
  • Advanced excel skills required.
