Responsibilities

  • The Director of Federal Government Relations would be primarily responsible for strengthening and building relationships with members of Congress and the Executive Branch on semiconductor and advanced technology manufacturing policy.
  • The candidate would sense opportunities and risk and identify key legislative opportunities to drive Samsung's semiconductor strategy and engagement at the highest levels in the U.S. government, including implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act and related industrial policy.
  • Reporting directly to the Vice President of Government Relations and developing relationship-building activities and opportunities, including semiconductor fabrication facility site visits, PAC fundraisers, events, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Coordinating new programming for events and activities in the company's DC office, including meet and greets with members of Congress, hosting events with congressional semiconductor/tech caucuses, coalitions or industry partners (e.g., Semiconductor Industry Association, and receptions for congressional staff and members focused on chip manufacturing and supply chain issues.
  • Providing support for semiconductor and foundry business teams at the federal, state, and local political levels and with administration relationships (Commerce, including the Bureau of Industry and Security, NIST/CHIPS Program Office

  • Supporting and helping drive participation in Samsung's PAC.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years in an advocacy role, preferably in the semiconductor, broader tech and/or trade ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish solid working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including semiconductor industry coalitions.
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Juris Doctor or Graduate degree preferred.
  • Solid familiarity with Samsung's semiconductor products, foundry business, memory chip operations, and manufacturing strategy.
  • Strong command of policy and legislative issues core to Samsung's semiconductor business, including trade, export controls, energy, tax incentives (Section 48D/ITC), national security, critical minerals, and appropriations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and partner with other cross-functional team members.
  • Excellent leadership and communications skills.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Juris Doctor or Graduate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience working with S. government officials required
  • experience with CHIPS Act implementation or export control policy a plus.
