About the role

  • Our purpose is to enrich the student experience by focusing on their non-academic needs through an array of student-driven programs and services.

  • The position plays a vital role on the administrative team under the direction of the Administration and Retail Manager and will be working mainly at the SAMU front desk.

Responsibilities

  • Financial & Retail Support- (45%)
  • Perform Point of Sale (POS) transactions.
  • Maintain SAMU and paid posters Boards throughout campus.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable administration.
  • Customer Service & Program Support - (30%)
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
  • Financial & Retail Support- (45%) • Perform Point of Sale (POS) transactions. • Track retail inventory • Assist with advertising bookings • Maintain SAMU and paid posters Boards throughout campus. • Prepare table rentals • Facilitate student group deposits. • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable administration. • Prepare deposits for banking.
  • Being accountable and passing on accountability for one's own actions and those of colleagues and the organization.
  • The Students' Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) is a non-profit organization working independently from MacEwan University to support students.
  • SAMU has an opening for part-time Administrative and Retail Support within the SAMU Building.

Requirements

  • Experience handling cash, operating a Point of Sale (POS) system, or processing financial transactions is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling financial transactions and administrative records.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to respond professionally to inquiries and unexpected situations.
  • Knowledge of SAMU's programs, services, and governance.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
  • Sedentary with Light Physical Effort - Sitting, Standing, Walking, Kneeling, Lifting - up to 50 pounds, Manual Dexterity
  • between 10-25 hours/week, depending on availability, between 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Will work around the student's schedule.

Compensation

  • Salary | $19.00/hour Location of Work | City Centre Campus (CCC)
