About the role

  • The OCPMC will assist with the coordination of a more resilient food supply chain in Oneida County through the e-commerce site and the in-person farmers' market.
  • The individual will assist the supervisor in the coordination and implementation of activities and projects associated with the Oneida County Public Market.
  • The Coordinator will also assist in the development of marketing and advertising campaigns for the market's programs.

Responsibilities

  • May assist in multi-association team efforts to deliver program.
  • Assist in developing communication strategies for the Oneida County Public Market.
  • Assist in developing and/or enhancing/expanding relationships with volunteers, vendors, community groups, appropriate agencies, organizations, and community leaders for the public market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate degree and two years of transferable program experience.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to plan and organize work responsibilities according to priorities developed with team members and immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
  • Proficiency or ability to learn and effectively use software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel).
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.

  • Experience dealing with the agricultural industry while promoting community engagement.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the challenges facing agriculture locally and across New York State.
  • Position Details:
  • Wage/Hourly: $20-$21.50 per hour

Compensation

  • Attend meetings as required, including but not limited to, USDA AMS Grant Management meetings, and the annual conference of the Farmers Market Federation of NY.
