About the role
- Summary: The IPB intern will assist with our laboratory and greenhouse studies related to the development of novel biopesticides to control a wide variety of agricultural pest species.
- The Intern will assist in preparing materials for bioassays, establishing and maintaining insect colonies and cleaning the lab and greenhouse.
- AND DUTIES: Assist Scientists in the setting up and execution of experiments.
Requirements
- A successful candidate is a quick-learner, innovative, creative and team oriented with: Currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with help or independently occasionally.
- A pre-employment background check will be required.
- The Intern will also support other lab and greenhouse activities as required.
- Good time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task Commitment to work at least 10-15 hours per week during the school year.

- These duties can range from early-stage screening of potential products to routine Quality Control testing.
- Assist in the maintenance of multiple insects species through diet preparation, collection and processing of eggs, creation and repair of insect cages, and routine monitoring.
- Prepare materials needed for bioassays and assist in setting up various bioassays ( in vitro and in planta ) to evaluate insecticidal candidates and deepen understanding of established products.
- Record data and results in an organized fashion.
- Keep clean the laboratory and the greenhouse (clean glassware, growing containers, benches and floors as needed).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Schedule will be established with supervisor upon hiring.
