About the role
- Supervise campers and ensure their safety.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center Camp programs.
- Directly interact with camper's parents and guardians.
Responsibilities
- Lead CITs, LITs and Counselors through daily activities.
- Lead campers through daily activities with a positive and fun attitude.
- Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
- Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain camp facilities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old and have attended or graduated from high school or equivalent.
- Candidate must be able to work effectively with a wide range of diverse young people.
- Must be able to work for the full camp season.
- Must be able to work one before or after care shift each week.
- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required.

Nice to have
- Attendance in or graduation from a recognized college/university or equivalent.
- Some teaching experience.
- Ability to assist with teaching and a keen interest in educating youth.
- Leadership abilities.
- /Essential Functions:
- Supervise campers and ensure their safety at all times.
- Responsible for assisting with program set-up, material preparation, clean-up.
- Assist in maintaining proper site appearance and safety conditions.
Compensation
- $16-17.50 per hour
Benefits
- Deliver educational programs dealing with environmental science, horticulture, animal science and agriculture programs at the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center.
- Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
