About the role
- The RN Clinical Specialist will be responsible for serving as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice for the critical care environment.
- Major roles of the RN Clinical Specialist include those of educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, and clinical guideline expert.
- Utilizes principles of leadership, change theory and adult education to improve nursing practice and promote quality care.
Responsibilities
- Develops methods for evaluating clinical nursing problems in conjunction with Manager(s).
- Uses current evidence in the literature to drive practice and better outcomes.
- Selects and implements valid and reliable instruments and metrics to measure processes and outcomes.
- Counsel, develop and evaluate the performance and clinical practice of staff.
- Offers consistent and visible support to team members.
- Supports Shared Leadership and encourages staff participation on unit-based teams.
- Offers support and feedback to peers and staff.
- Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Participates in clinical preceptorship and implements changes as needed to reflect best practice standards.
- Develops new forms and/or suggests revisions of forms to improve quality of care.
Requirements
- Masters Degree, Nursing or relevant field (Required) or
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing and enrolled in Masters in Nursing or relevant field program (Required) or
- 3-4 years Clinical nursing experience in Hospital Setting (Required)
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN Certification Corporation) Related nursing specialty certification accepted in lieu of CCRN within 60 Days(Required)
Nice to have
- 1 year Educator or teaching experience (Preferred)
Compensation
- Develops educational and professional practice goals and objectives annually and reports on progress.
Benefits
- $102,200.00 - $140,525.00/AnnualActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
- Collaborates with other clinical educators to conduct educational needs assessments for the different department patient populations they oversee.
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
- ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 60 Days(Required) and
- PALS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Preferred) and
