About the role

  • Communications include interaction with leaders and employees, corporate positioning on government, regulatory, legislative, and other public policy issues, and business initiatives.
  • Provide well-written, researched, validated, clear, consistent business communications on a range of topics that span company announcements, leadership communication, meeting presentations, multimedia, scripts, key messages, and talking points.

Responsibilities

  • The Corporate Affairs team helps the company achieve its objectives and drive effectiveness by influencing stakeholder behaviors.
  • Deliver key messages to employees, the community, third-party organizations and associations, opinion leaders, and elected officials.
  • Identify and build relationships with communities and stakeholders necessary for successful message saturation and impact based on size of customer base, and political sensitivity, etc.
  • Maintain a working understanding of current events along with industry news and trends.
  • Build credibility within the community so that third-parties also communicate the Vistra messages

Requirements

  • Corporate Affairs strategists will have depth of experience in all aspects of corporate affairs: communications, community affairs, corporate giving, and media relations.
  • Self-managed overnight travel required

Nice to have

  • Participate in cross-functional teams or projects leveraging broad corporate affairs expertise.
  • Propose communications strategies and tactics and work directly within other departments to accomplish tasks.
  • 5 + years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations, journalism
  • Experience in government, regulatory, or public issues communications
  • Familiarity with photography and videography a plus
  • Ability to detect issues and correctly interpret and communicate information
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of corporate communications and news media
  • Knowledge of energy industry and/or competitive businesses
