About the role

Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.
The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR B.

Degree: Accounting
or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
OR Experience: GS-11 and GS-12: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GS-11: Experience in monitoring the accuracy and completeness of accounting data entered into the automated Financial Management Information (FMIS).
Experience in monitoring and verifying the accuracy of the proof checks, SF-224, draft systems, general ledger, and other on-line systems.
Experience in thorough knowledge of accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices, Federal fund, property, payroll, grantee and cost accounting.
GS-12: Experience in preparing reports covering the status of accounting operations, identifying problem areas, and recommending effective solutions to resolve issues.
