About the role

They participate in safe, efficient and cost-effective anesthesia care.
The employee may set-up drips, A-Lines and Central Lines.
This employee uses sterile techniques to gown and glove, set up lines and assist the anesthesia provider with placement of lines in patient.

Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times
Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members
Performs or assists with the emergency procedure for Malignant Hyperthermia, as necessary
Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
Performs other duties as assigned

The employee assists the anesthesia provider in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the anesthesia equipment and supplies required for the safe administration of anesthesia.
Ability to logically troubleshoot an issue to resolution
Must have ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deliver successful results

High school diploma or GED/equivalent (required)
College experience/ courses in Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology (preferred)
Prior experience as an anesthesia technician or in a patient-care role (preferred)
Knowledge of pharmacology (preferred)
Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologist (ASAT) (preferred)

Knowledge of the emergency procedure for malignant hyperthermia
Knowledge of anesthesia equipment
Knowledge of troubleshooting low and high pressure in anesthesia machines
Understanding of sterile technique
Must possess organizational skills which are essential for stocking of anesthesia carts and setting up lines
Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageable parts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input from several sources
Must be detail orientation in gathering relevant data while attending to essential details; checks work for accuracy and quality
Must be comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint if necessary
Must have the ability to learn and use the electronic documentation system appropriately
Must have the capacity to learn other relevant systems and databases, as needed
