About the role

  • The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for leading the field execution of commercial and industrial HVAC projects from preconstruction through turnover.
  • This role oversees foremen, craft labor, subcontractors, and trade coordination to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Upchurch's quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise HVAC and mechanical construction activities in the field.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure scope compliance.
  • Develop and maintain short-term schedules and installation plans.
  • Lead safety initiatives, conduct site observations, and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Support procurement, material planning, and equipment deliveries.
  • Maintain daily reports and communicate project progress, risks, and resource needs.
  • Mentor and develop foremen and field personnel.
  • The HVAC Superintendent works closely with Project Managers and field leadership to drive project success while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of HVAC, mechanical, or MEP construction experience with leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience leading commercial or industrial HVAC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, equipment installation, and commissioning.
  • Proven leadership, communication, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and coordination documents.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and project performance.
