About the role

Managers evaluate employee performance throughout the year-specifically through the spring and fall Check In milestones and the Annual Performance Review.
All employees are encouraged to actively participate in these performance management processes.
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of HVAC Controls Engineer.

Monitor and support the daily operation of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical equipment, and BAS).
Perform routine inspections and assist in identifying potential risks or system inefficiencies.
Support corrective and preventive maintenance activities for facility systems and equipment.
Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to support repairs, maintenance, and system upgrades.
Support implementation of system modifications, upgrades, and expansions under guidance of senior engineers.
Review and follow control sequences for HVAC and building systems; recommend minor improvements for efficiency and reliability.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and utilize CMMS for work order tracking and documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of facility systems and work areas.
Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

First-Class Steam Operating Engineer's License must be obtained within two years of hire.
First Class Refrigeration Operating Engineer's License must be obtained within two years of hire.

High School Diploma/GED required.
Technical School Diploma or Professional Certification in related area preferred.
4+ years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, controls systems, or technical services.
Experience with maintenance and repair of facility-related equipment.
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, steam, chilled water, and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with CMMS platforms preferred.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Basic understanding of BAS communication protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, LON).

Asks for guidance and tries out new ideas when changes in approach are required.
Adapts quickly and positively; learns from mistakes.
Questions, clarifies, and provides explanations as needed.
Checks documents and reports for clarity and accuracy.

Handles routine queries with courtesy and escalates issues with professionalism and composure.
Exhibits basic grasp of facilities operations and maintenance processes, guidelines and regulations.
Demonstrates physical fitness and is able to work in a stressful environment.
