About the role

- This temporary, part-time position assists with a variety of municipal legal matters and special projects.
- Specific assignments and practice areas will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and the operational needs of the City Attorney's Office.
Responsibilities
- Drafts, reviews, and revises contracts, ordinances, resolutions, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Provides legal advice and support to City departments regarding municipal operations, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
Requirements
- Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Nice to have
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
- Experience practicing municipal law, local government law, public sector law, employment law, contracts, litigation, real estate, land use, or other related practice areas is preferred.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Principles and practices of municipal and local government law.
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances.
- Legal research methods and legal writing.
