About the role
- ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest.
Responsibilities
- Providing support and guidance to ensure that stories and projects are conceived of and told as ambitiously and creatively as possible.
- Helping reporters collaborate with researchers, data visualization reporters, engagement reporters, audience and visual staffers, and story producers.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate for this job has successfully helped conceive of and execute investigative projects that uncover harmful practices and policies by the world's most powerful people, agencies and corporations.
- They'll have experience with different kinds of storytelling, including visually led pieces, and a knack for honing and elevating copy.
- At least five years of experience editing accountability reporting
- Experience with - and an appetite for - collaborating, both across the newsroom and with external partners.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle many responsibilities, meet deadlines and handle pressure while remaining calm.
- The ability to travel, as needed, for team meetings, training and other events.
Compensation
- The expected salary range for this position is $185,000 to $210,000.
