About the role

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and reporting activities.
Finance and Accounting Direct and enhance the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely completion of all accounting activities.
Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.

Oversee and manage all aspects of the general ledger, including fixed assets and property accounting.
Ensure all financial reporting adheres to GAAP while proactively evolving processes to support organizational growth and scalability.
Maintain internal controls and safeguards for assets, revenue, expenses, and program budgets.
Function as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to the Program and Property teams, providing accounting expertise to enable informed business decisions.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other accounting documentation to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes to increase efficiency, scalability, and reliability Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team, promoting ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and strong internal customer focus.

Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Master of Business Administration or CPA is highly desired 3+ years' experience as a Controller within the nonprofit sector required.
Have a successful track record in nonprofit grants management, compliance, and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants.
8+ Years' experience in accounting.
Proven experience as an accounting manager, senior accounting manager or in similar roles.
Coordinate and oversee audit activity to facilitate efficient audits by providing required schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation and timely resolving any open items or findings.
