About the role
- Summary: As a Foreman, you will be responsible for leading and directing work groups on active railway property and construction sites.
- This position contributes to the safety and efficiency of the work groups while minimizing delays to railway operations while complying with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) rules and regulations.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move heavy weights.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily safety briefings with crews at the beginning and end of each job, or when conditions change, encourage feedback from crews about the project to ensure all questions are answered
- Plan out work activities with Management to develop best means and methods, including developing safety action plans or other emergency plans as needed
- Monitor and manages crew performance as it relates to goals, safety, and company policies
- Train employees in proper procedures for maintaining, building and repairing tracks
- Potentially drive company vehicles if necessary and qualified - assigned Company vehicle F-250
Requirements
- This position specifically leads the crew during daily production and operates a Barbco 36/48 Bore machine, including shooting required grade.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The employee frequently is required to stand
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Able to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of maintenance of way and track construction
- Perform general labor with crew as required
- Complete written forms and reports, including FRA reports, as required
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots or safety glasses when required
