About the role
- The ANI identifies work priorities, determines and coordinates daily assignments and staff scheduling.
- The Administrative Nurse I takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into practice.
- Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Administrative Nurse I functions as role model who directs patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- The employee and Director/Nurse Manager Patient Care Services meet on an as needed basis for coaching and mentoring where support, guidance and direction can be given.
- Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
- Builds collaborative relationships with physicians to promote teamwork.
- Actively engaged in Shared Leadership through membership on a governing council; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Requirements
- Completes required orientation program and unit-specific competencies.
- Makes patient care assignment and changes assignment as required according patient's/unit's needs.
Compensation
- The employee's performance is evaluated annually in writing and more frequently if needed.

- Accesses medical center intranet/outlook for relevant communication and to review and interpret changes in policy, procedure and other information pertinent to practice.
- Adheres to the UI Health's Code of Conduct treats patients/families, staff, students and visitors with respect and dignity.
